Recently diagnosed with ALS or \u201cLou Gehrig\u2019s disease,\u201d Kari is facing mounting health and school related expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Kari is determined to keep the school up and running but needs our help to do so.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/mirefugioesjesus.org\/give\/\" target=\"_self\" role=\"button\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGive Now\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/mirefugioesjesus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/kari-stairs-rose.jpg\" alt=\"Kari Engen\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"900\" width=\"1350\" title=\"Kari Engen\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/mirefugioesjesus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/kids-lunch-room.jpg\" alt=\"Guatemala school children at lunch\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"900\" width=\"1350\" title=\"Guatemala school children at lunch\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h2>\n\t\tAbout the School\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Centro Educativo &#8220;Mi Refugio&#8221; has been accredited by the Guatemalan government, and all of the teachers are graduates from Guatemalan schools with teaching credentials. Kari Engen is the Executive Director of the ministry, living full time in San Pedro Sacatepequez.<\/p>\n<p>Families contribute as they are able. They are asked to contribute 50 Quetzales a month, which amounts to about $7.00 US.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/mirefugioesjesus.org\/give\/\" target=\"_self\" role=\"button\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGive Now\n\t\t<\/a>\n<h2>\n\t\tLocation\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>The students come from the Guatemala City Dump, Zone 7 and the city of San Pedro.
